ROYAL MONETARY AUTHORITY OF BHUTAN
Date: 10th November 2025
⸻
Public Notification
The Royal Monetary Authority (RMA) of Bhutan would like to alert the general public to remain cautious of One-Time Password (OTP) scam activities during the LONG HOLIDAYS AND WEEKENDS, as many of these schemes are operated during these odd hours by scammers.
Scammers often exploit long holidays and weekends by impersonating officials from the RMA, banks, telecom companies, or other agencies through WhatsApp, phone calls, or social media, claiming to offer lottery prizes, investment opportunities, or cryptocurrency schemes. Their goal is to trick you into revealing your personal or banking information such as OTPs, bank account details, or CID numbers.
The general public is hereby reminded to stay vigilant and not share OTPs, M-PINs, T-PINs, or any personal banking details with anyone. Banks and government agencies will never ask for your OTP or confidential information over the phone or via social media. Such details are only requested when you visit their offices in person.
If you receive any suspicious calls or messages, do not engage or share any personal information. Always inform and/or contact RMA at fiu@rma.org.bt, your bank, or concerned agencies to verify first.
