Gelephu International Airport Launches First-Ever International Flight

Gelephu International Airport marked a historic milestone today with the launch of its first international flight on the Gelephu–Kolkata–Gelephu route, inaugurated by Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay. Operated by Drukair, this new service establishes Gelephu as Bhutan’s newest international aviation gateway. The airport’s international operations are expected to significantly enhance regional connectivity and create new economic opportunities in tourism, trade, logistics, and investment. Drukair will begin operating two regular weekly flights on this route starting December 12, 2025.
