Prime Minister of Bhutan Addresses Opening of SDG Impact Finance Forum
Thimphu — His Excellency Dasho Tshering Tobgay, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bhutan, attended and addressed the opening of the Bhutan SDG Impact Finance Forum, highlighting Bhutan’s pivotal position as the nation advances its development pathway beyond Least Developed Country (LDC) status.
In his address, the Prime Minister underscored the importance of strengthening small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and empowering young entrepreneurs as key drivers of sustainable and inclusive economic growth. He emphasized the Pelsung movement as a foundational initiative for fostering innovation, resilience, and a future-ready economy.
His Excellency noted that traditional financing mechanisms are no longer sufficient to address the evolving demands of Bhutan’s development agenda. He called for bold, innovative, and collaborative financing approaches that bring together government agencies, international institutions, philanthropic organizations, and youth to mobilize impact-driven investments aligned with Bhutan’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The Prime Minister further encouraged participants to engage actively with Bhutan’s SDG investment pipeline, facilitate knowledge exchange, and build strategic partnerships capable of delivering meaningful and lasting development outcomes in Bhutan and beyond.
The Bhutan SDG Impact Finance Forum brings together policymakers, development partners, investors, and private-sector stakeholders to explore innovative financial solutions that support national priorities and inclusive economic development.
