Two Brothers Killed in Dispute Over Wrong Number Call in Patan
Patan, Lalitpur — April 8, 2026
A tragic incident at the Krishna Mandir premises in Patan, Lalitpur, claimed the lives of two brothers following a dispute that reportedly began with a wrong-number phone call, police said.
According to authorities, Sumit Nembang and his younger brother Srijan Nembang, residents of Imadol, accidentally dialed the phone number of Sanjiv Nepali on Wednesday evening while attempting to contact someone else. Although the conversation initially appeared normal, it soon escalated into a heated verbal exchange between both parties.
Police reported that during the call, both sides challenged each other, after which Sanjiv Nepali allegedly asked the brothers to come to Patan. The brothers then traveled to the location where the argument resumed and quickly turned into a physical confrontation.
During the altercation, Sanjiv Nepali, who works at a meat shop, allegedly pulled out a meat-cutting knife he had with him and attacked both brothers. The victims sustained serious injuries and were immediately rushed to a hospital. However, both died during treatment.
Following the incident, police arrested the main suspect, Sanjiv Nepali, along with another individual while they were attempting to flee. Authorities said a detailed investigation into the case is ongoing.
