India’s Prime Minister, His Excellency Shri Narendra Modi, was a special guest of honour at the 70th Birth Anniversary of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo.
The Prime Minister arrived in Bhutan this morning, and was received in a ceremonial Chipdrel procession at Changlimithang.
His Majesty said that the entire country is moved by Prime Minister Modi’s presence for an occasion of such importance to the people of Bhutan, and conveyed the heartfelt appreciation of all Bhutanese for the gesture. His Majesty also reaffirmed Bhutan’s steadfast support and friendship for India and her people.
Prime Minister Modi, in turn, paid tribute to His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo as a wise and visionary leader and an inspiration to the world. Reflecting on the deep ties between India and Bhutan, rooted in spiritual bonds and shared values, Prime Minister Modi pledged continued support for and cooperation with Bhutan.
Special prayers were offered for India and her people to fulfill their aspirations, and for those who lost their lives in an explosion in Delhi yesterday.
